Challenges of becoming a blended family through loss and trauma
Dear Friends and Family,
It is my pleasure to introduce you to my dear friend Danielle Pillans and her beautiful daughter, Addie. I want to be upfront – the recording you’re about to see is deeply moving and may be difficult to watch. Their story deals with the challenges of becoming a blended family through loss and trauma.
Young Addie and her mother, Danielle, have shown remarkable courage, and their willingness to share a part of their life story with us is truly special.
I first met Danielle and her late husband, Bryan, at a Family Life blended event several years ago. Gina and I had the honor of speaking at their church in Corsicana on a Sunday morning, where we addressed a congregation of 500 people. They were launching a small group for blended families, and we were the guest speakers.
However, it was Danielle and Bryan who were doing the real work. They met with couples as they began this program, recognizing the profound need for such support—something we wish more churches would see, but that’s a topic for another day.
